Commentary

Minute   Description
Getafe will feel frustrated they weren't able to come away with anything, as they caused Atletico plenty of problems before the break. They were carved apart by a great move for the second goal, though, and it never looked as if there was any way back for them after Alejo saw red.
It wasn't the easiest of games for Atletico, who had to battle hard against a tough Getafe side, but they've managed to leave with a much-needed victory thanks to two really well-worked goals. They have Lemar to thank for both of them, and the victory is one that takes a little bit of pressure off Simeone after a disappointing start to the season.
90'+5 FULL-TIME: GETAFE 0-2 ATLETICO MADRID
90'+4 Lucas is clumsily clattered into as Atletico push forward once again, and the visitors are awarded a free-kick in a promising position. Koke chips a cross into the penalty area, but it can only find Soria's hands.
90'+2 Griezmann almost makes it 3-0! Another lovely build-up from Atletico sets up the Frenchman to shoot, but his low effort is slightly underhit and well saved by the feet of Soria.
90' The fourth official has indicated that there will be five minutes of added time.
89' Correa breaks into the home side's box and just about manages to stay on his feet after being knocked off balance. He then sets up Griezmann to cross, but the striker can't quite find Costa at the back post.
87' Chance for Griezmann! The Frenchman cuts inside from over on the right and quickly shoots, and his thumping effort forces Soria into punching the ball behind for a corner.
86' Lucas sprints into the Getafe penalty area and tries to cross, but Suarez is there to knock the ball behind for a corner. Koke steps up and takes the set-piece, but he can't quite find a team-mate and the hosts hold on.
84' The yellow card is out again, and this time it's Juanfran who finds himself on the receiving end after stretching and catching Guardiola with a slightly late challenge.
82' Angel picks up the ball midway inside the Atletico half of the pitch and is immediately fouled from behind by Saul, who receives a yellow card - much to the delight of the home fans!
80' As for Atletico, they've decided to bring on Correa for Lemar.
78' Getafe have made their final substitution, with Djene making way for Cristoforo.
76' Excellent opportunity for Costa! A lovely spin and pass from Lucas sets up the striker to shoot, but he can't beat Soria at the near post and has a slightly tame effort saved.
74' Getafe are continuing to try and find a way back into this game, but two goals and a man down, they're really struggling to carve out chances. Atletico are sitting deep inside their own half of the pitch and look incredibly resolute at the back.
72' Guardiola makes a quick impression as he breaks down the left flank and into a pocket of space. He then crosses, but his looping ball into the box can only find the hands of Oblak.
71' Meanwhile, Atletico have made a switch of their own, with Godin coming on to take the place of Luis.
70' Getafe have made a change in response to that red card, with Molina making way for Guardiola.
69' Space opens up for Griezmann, who quickly rushes into the left-hand side of the Getafe penalty area. He then chips a cross-cum-shot across the face of goal, but it's poorly executed and easily dealt with by Soria.
67' RED CARD! Getare are down to 10 men! Alejo has barely been on the pitch for four minutes but he's already been given his marching orders. He flew into Saul and caught the midfielder with a high challenge, leaving the referee with no choice but to reach for his pocket.
65' Getafe pile plenty of bodies forward once again and win themselves a free-kick. It's sent short to Alejo, who tries to find a way past Lemar but is easily dispossessed by the Frenchman.
63' Getafe have made a change, with Alejo coming on to replace Ndiaye.
62' Great chance for Angel! A lovely dinked pass is chipped over the Atletico back line and towards Angel, who brings the ball down and forces Oblak into making a smart save with a thumping strike.
60' GOAL! Atletico have doubled their lead! A beautiful team move is finished by Lemar, who rounds Soria and pokes the ball into the back of the net from the near post. That really was brilliantly worked by Simeone's men!
58' Atletico have made their first substitution of the game, with Rodri making way for Thomas.
56' The referee has reached to his pocket for the first time today, and it's Suarez who has received a yellow card for a mistimed challenge.
54' Vital block! Angel, whose movement has been really impressive today, bursts into the box again and sends a deft pass into the path of Molina. The striker quickly shoots with a flick but Lucas is there to get in the way of the effort.
52' Juanfran does well to steal the ball from Antunes and quickly pokes a pass through to Costa. The striker is able to latch onto the ball but can't get a shot away, as Bruno expertly clears the danger.
50' Angel is left all alone over on the right-hand side of the Athletic box after making a good run out wide. He then fires a cross into the middle of the penalty area, where it's well cleared by Lucas.
48' Atletico immediately go on the front foot from the restart and carve out a decent chance on goal. Luis' low cross from the left picks out Griezmann, who shoots from the edge of the box but sends his first-time effort over the crossbar.
46' We're underway once again!
The two teams are making their way back out on to the pitch ahead of the start of the second half. Neither side have made any substitutions during the half-time break.
Atletico are always keen to sit deep and soak up the pressure, but one of the things that will have worried Simeone is how easily they've given away possession. It's stopped them from hitting Getafe on counter-attacks, which is surely their best way of doubling the lead.
The scoreline is looking good for Atletico at the halfway stage, but they aren't sitting comfortably and need to do more if they're to leave with all three points. Getafe have done well in the final third, and while they're yet to truly test Oblak, they'll be pleased with how they've performed so far.
45'+3 HALF-TIME: GETAFE 0-1 ATLETICO MADRID
45'+2 A looping cross is fired into the Atletico box and goes close to picking out Angel, but Juanfran is there to nonchalantly chest the ball back to Oblak.
45' The fourth official has indicated that there will be two minutes of added time.
44' Getafe are continuing to comfortably boss possession as they search for an equaliser. Possession is currently 50-50, but the home side are certainly doing much more with it than Atletico are.
42' Not much. A curling strike is sent towards the top right-hand corner of the net, but it's easily saved Oblak and poses few problems.
41' Angel is clattered into by Lucas, resulting in a free-kick for Getafe in a dangerous position 20 yards from goal. What will they be able to do from this?
39' Almost a chance for Molina! Angel breaks down the right wing and fires a dangerous cross into the heart of the penalty area. Molina tries to spin and get a shot away, but his first touch is poor and takes the ball away from him.
37' Atletico patiently pass the ball around as they try to enjoy a lengthy spell of possession. They're able to keep hold of it until Saul attempts to pick out Costa, as once again his pass can't get anywhere near the striker.
35' It just isn't quite working for Atletico going forward. They're presented with a rare chance to attack after Getafe lose the ball, but Saul's pass towards Costa is poor and rolls straight through to Soria.
33' The game gets underway and Getafe break forward on yet another attacking move. A lofted pass is knocked down to Molina, who then tries to pick out Angel but can't quite find his strike partner in front of goal.
31' A quick drinks break gives Atletico time to regroup and relax. They've found themselves on the back foot since going in front, with Getafe's impressive attacking play giving them plenty to do.
29' Chance for Suarez! Another good attacking move from the home side causes problems for the Atletico back line. Lucas' half-hearted clearance can only find Suarez, who then unleashes a thumping shot that Gimenez does well to block.
27' Antunes makes a good run down the left wing as Getafe keep enjoying a decent spell of possession, but his cross ends up finding Oblak's hands after receiving a deflection at the near post.
25' The hosts have responded well to going behind, but Atletico are always happy to sit back and soak up pressure.
23' Getafe manage to push Atletico back inside their own half and shift the ball out to Portillo on the right. He swings a cross towards Molina, but Oblak comes off his line and claims it easily.
16' That goal will be a huge relief for Atletico, who have been stuttering badly in the early stages of this LaLiga season.
14' GOOOOAAL!! ATLETICO LEAD 1-0! Lemar unleashes a ferocious shot from around 30 yards out and it crashes against the bar. The ball bounces out and hits the back of Getafe keeper Soria to rebound across the line for the opener.
13' Griezmann is found by Rodrigo and has a go from in excess of 35 yards but it misses the top-left corner.
10' The referee blows his whistle again - this time it's for a handball by Saul. It's been a fairly even start so far.
7' Atletico earn a corner as Antunes puts the ball out, but a foul on Rodriguez by Gimenez gives Getafe free-kick.
2' Lemar wins a free-kick inside his own half after Antunes clatters into him.
