Minute   Description
Thanks for joining our coverage today. Until next time, goodbye.
Howe's side will head to West Ham next weekend full of confidence as they seek to open the campaign with back-to-back wins, whereas Cardiff will hope for a better result when they host Newcastle.
Bournemouth win an opening game of a Premier League campaign for the first time in their fourth attempt, with Francis and Wilson securing a deserved win for the hosts. Cardiff looked threatening at times, particularly in the second half, but lacked the cutting edge required to break down the hosts' organised defensive line.
90'+5 FULL-TIME! BOURNEMOUTH 2-0 CARDIFF
90'+4 Goalscorer Wilson also makes way late on, with Mousset taking his place.
90'+3 Late double change for the hosts, the first of which sees Smith replaced by Defoe.
90'+1 Francis has had a difficult test since his introduction but his pass put the ball on the plate for Wilson to open his account with what he will hope will be the first of many this season.
GOAL! 2-0 Bournemouth! Game over for Cardiff as Wilson redeems himself for his earlier penalty miss by tucking home after Francis' teed the ball across to the forward superbly.
90' Five minutes added on at the end of the second half.
88' Third and final change for Cardiff, as Madine replaces Reid.
Thankfully Cook is back on his feet and able to continue, although Bournemouth may still make a late change.
86' An issue for Bournemouth as Cook is down in a heap inside the box after contesting a header and it does not look good. The referee quickly brings the game to a halt and he is receiving treatment.
85' Cardiff trying to go direct in their quest for an equaliser but nothing is falling their way in the final third, where the Bournemouth defence is mopping up any danger.
83' A decent attack for Bournemouth sees plenty forward but King cannot take down Wilson's cross, with Fraser running onto it and smashing an effort well over the roof of the net.
81' Bournemouth seem to be back on the front foot as we edge ever closer to the final whistle, with Cardiff stuck inside their own half as they chase an equaliser.
79' SAVE! Etheridge called upon to deny Wilson, who flicks a header towards goal from a free-kick.
77' Bournemouth starting to grow back into the game as Cardiff commit more and more players forward but Etheridge has had very little to do in the second period.
75' Entering the final 15 minutes of the game and Cardiff have the edge in possession but still trail to Fraser's first-half strike.
73' The visitors win another corner and it is deep from Hoilett again, then headed back across goal where Bamba concedes a free-kick for dangerous play after attempting an acrobatic effort.
71' Cardiff have dominated the past ten minutes or so but have not tested Begovic enough, with Reid continuing to look isolated leading the pack.
69' Francis concedes a free-kick in a dangerous position for his first contribution to the match but Reid wastes the opportunity by firing over the bar.
67' Bournemouth's first change sees Brooks' debut come to an end as Francis takes his place.
65' WHAT A SAVE! Cardiff banging on the door but they cannot beat Begovic, who makes a superb save. Murphy tries an overhead kick from a corner and it leads to a scramble on the goal line but the Bournemouth stopper does excellently to keep the ball out.
63' Warnock also hands Murphy a debut, as he replaces Mendez-Laing.
62' Cardiff make a double change, the first of which sees Ward introduced for Paterson.
Huge chance! Fraser does brilliantly and fires a fierce cross into the middle where debutant Brooks cannot head into the empty net, instead directing a header off target.
60' Better from Cardiff as Hoilett drives forward and his cross comes to Paterson, who sees an effort deflected behind by Ake. The corner is fired home but the Dutch defender is there to head away from danger.
59' A quick succession of corners for the hosts, who continue to ask questions of Cardiff. The second is fired deep by Brooks but is hooked away.
57' Fraser curls a dangerous free-kick into the middle but it is missed by all of his Bournemouth colleagues. Howe's side are growing in confidence though.
55' Neither goalkeeper has had anything to do since the restart, as the match settles back into a game where the majority of play is in the middle third of the field.
53' It is unlikely to be too long until Cardiff look to their bench for changes, as they need a fresh approach to put Bournemouth under pressure.
51' Reid cannot get anything to work with in the final third for Cardiff, as he has been left feeding on scraps. It is all very well signing a striker who had 17 goals last season but you need to present him with chances.
49' Bournemouth quickly back into control of things at the start of the second period as Cardiff find themselves on the back foot once again.
46' Bournemouth get the action back underway for the second half as they look to hold onto their advantage.
Bournemouth had to cope with some late pressure from Cardiff after Wilson's penalty was saved but look fairly comfortable overall, with Cardiff not asking too many questions of them defensively. The trio of Wilson, King and Fraser look lively and extremely dangerous.
A very good first half performance from Bournemouth, who enter the break with a narrow advantage thanks to a strike from Fraser that capped off a superb attacking move. The Cherries had a golden opportunity to double their advantage from the spot but Wilson had his penalty well saved by Etheridge, which leaves everything to play for.
45'+2 HALF-TIME! BOURNEMOUTH 1-0 CARDIFF
45'+1 Two minutes of added time at the end of the first half.
45' Cardiff have been a lot better since Etheridge's penalty save and have another half chance from the air, as Mendez-Laing heads Hoilett's cross wide.
43' First Bournemouth booking of the season goes to Daniels, who gets the ball but also gets too much of Hoilett and has his name taken.
42' Still a very tight game as Cardiff look to claw their way back into the match before the break, while Bournemouth look to retain their advantage.
40' WIDE! Big chance for Cardiff to equalise, as Ralls delivers a superb ball to the far post but the decisive touch cannot be provided.
38' Brooks tumbles to ground on the edge of the area and appeals for a free-kick but the referee gives the decision the other way, with the midfielder adjudged to have barged over his opponent.
36' That could be a real turning point in the match as a second for Bournemouth would have surely put the game beyond any doubt.
34' Bournemouth did not have a strong record of converting penalties last season but it was not a poor attempt from Wilson, though it could have been hit with more power.
33' PENALTY! Exactly what Cardiff wanted to avoid! A clumsy challenge from Ecuele Manga trips Wilson and referee Kevin Friend immediately points to the spot.
32' Cardiff have offered very little since falling behind and look like they need a rethink at the interval to get back into the game. The danger is Bournemouth are looking very strong and could double their lead before the break.
30' Bournemouth are in cruise control as they begin to find room to work with out wide, dragging the defenders across to leave room for Wilson and King in the middle.
28' Fraser and King look to be in good form, with the midfielder feeding a pass through to the Norway international who drags a shot wide of the far post.
26' A real kick in the teeth for Cardiff, who looked to have things under control and were frustrating their opponents. It is unlike to change the tactics for Warnock's side though, as they will remain looking to catch Bournemouth out on the counter.
24' The link-up play between striker partners King and Wilson was fantastic, tearing through a Cardiff defence that has stood firm so far and putting the ball on a plate for Fraser.
GOAL! 1-0 Bournemouth! The pressure pays off for the hosts! King and Wilson combine well, with the latter playing a slick pass back across the face of goal for Fraser to tuck home for the Cherries' first goal of 2018-19.
22' Brooks leads what appears to be a dangerous counter-attack from Bournemouth but his attempted pass is poor and easily intercepted.
20' Bournemouth are growing increasingly frustrated as they struggle to break down an organised Cardiff defence, with the Bluebirds yet to be truly threatened.
18' Still nothing to separate the two sides and not too many chances to get excited about, with the majority of play taking place in midfield.
16' Bamba appears to be playing in a defensive midfield role for Cardiff and has already been heavily involved in the game, making a number of tackles and interceptions.
14' Bournemouth now putting Cardiff under a consistent amount of pressure, with the visitors pegged back inside their own half. They are trying to attack quickly when they nick the ball but their passing has been poor.
12' At the other end, Reid tries an angled shot from outside the area but slashes his effort wide of the right-hand post.
10' WIDE! Wilson picks up on a loose ball from Paterson and weaves his way through a number of defenders before striking a low finish into the side netting.
9' Yet to see much from either of the debutants, with Brooks seeing little of the ball in midfield for Bournemouth while Reid is yet to receive a ball to feet leading the line for Cardiff.
7' Bournemouth controlling the possession battle as they patiently knock the ball around their defence, with Cardiff happy to sit back to soak up the pressure.
5' Cardiff showing plenty of intent in the early exchanges, with Warnock's side going direct to ask questions of the Bournemouth defence. The front four of the visitors is full of pace and they have already given the Cherries something to be wary of.
3' A very early yellow for Cardiff's Peltier, who tugs Fraser to ground from behind to prevent a counter-attack.
1' We are underway at the Vitality Stadium! Cardiff get the action started.
Bluebirds boss Warnock also names one new signing in this starting line-up in the form of Reid, who scored 19 goals for Bristol City last season. Fellow new recruits Murphy, Cunningham, Smithies and Camarasa are named on the bench but there is no room for Harry Arter, who is unavailable to play against his parent club.
Bournemouth hand a debut to 20-year-old midfielder Brooks, signed from Sheffield United in the close-season, but the rest of their side has a familiar look. Club-record signing Jefferson Lerma does not make the squad and neither does Diego Rico, who is suspended.
Cardiff subs: Alex Smithies, Danny Ward, Jazz Richards, Greg Cunningham, Victor Camarasa, Gary Madine, Josh Murphy.
Bournemouth subs: Artur Boruc, Tyrone Mings, Lewis Cook, Jermain Defoe, Lys Mousset, Jordon Ibe, Simon Francis.
Cardiff XI (3-4-2-1): Neil Etheridge; Bruno Ecuele Manga, Sean Morrison, Sol Bamba; Lee Peltier, Callum Paterson, Joe Ralls, Joe Bennett; Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, Junior Hoilett; Bobby Reid.
Bournemouth XI (4-4-2): Asmir Begovic; Adam Smith, Steve Cook, Nathan Ake, Charlie Daniels; David Brooks, Dan Gosling, Andrew Surman, Ryan Fraser; Callum Wilson, Joshua King.
Cardiff are back in the Premier League for a second time after finishing rock-bottom of the division in 2013-14. The Bluebirds won just seven games in that campaign, picking up only 30 points in total as they suffered an immediate return to the Championship. Neil Warnock will be hoping for a much better showing this time.
Eddie Howe's Bournemouth are set for their fourth campaign in the Premier League and the aim will be for more stability this term, following last season's 12th-placed finish. The Cherries do not hold a good record in opening day fixtures in the top-flight though so it could be a tough match ahead for the hosts.
Hello and welcome to our LIVE coverage of the Premier League clash between Bournemouth and Cardiff, where the Welsh side travel to the south coast in their return to the top-flight.
