Commentary

Minute   Description
Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Until next time, goodbye.
DRAMA!! Roma pull off one of the greatest comebacks in Champions League history to defeat Barcelona and advance to the semi-finals of the competition. The Catalan club held a three-goal advantage heading into this evening's match, with only two teams previously overturning such a deficit. Edin Dzeko made his side's intentions clear with an early goal and the Italian outfit dominated from that point onwards. The visitors barely had a kick in the contest and were at the mercy of the Italian outfit's prowess in the final third. Eusebio Di Francesco's men missed openings before finally getting the second goal when Daniele De Rossi converted from the spot after Dzeko had been brought down by Gerard Pique. It was a waiting game for the third, but Kostas Manolas etched his place in history with a brilliant header to send his side through. There will be an inquiry back in Catalonia about this failure.
FULL-TIME: ROMA (4) 3-0 (4) BARCELONA
90'+4 THAT'S IT!!!! ROMA ARE THROUGH!!!!!
90'+3 Roma are within touching distance here. They clock is winding down.
90'+2 CLOSE!!!!!! Dembele clips an effort over the bar with Alisson miles out of his goal. Confusion reigned in the Roma defence as Pique was not picked up. Alisson committed himself with a sliding challenge and he won the ball. However, it landed straight at the feet of Dembele. The Frenchman went for goal from 40 yards, sending his effort narrowly over the bar.
90'+1 Roma are taking the clock down for as long as they can at dead-ball situations. They're so close to a historic result.
90' There will be four minutes of added time.

87' A long ball forward from Alba has Alisson scrambling out of his net, but the keeper beats Dembele to it and heads clear of danger.
86' Messi weaves his way through the Roma defence, but the ball does not sit for him in the six-yard box. His scuffed effort lands safely into Alisson's hands.

85' Busquets makes way for Alcacer.
Dembele replaces Semedo for the visitors.
82' Under delivers a perfect cross to the near post for Manolas to attack and score.
GOALLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!! MANOLAS SCORES!!!!! SCENES AT THE STADIO OLIMPICO!!!! As it stands Roma will be heading through to the semi-finals as Manolas heads home from the corner. Under's delivery was perfect to the near post and the Greek made the run late to catch Barca asleep. He connected with his effort guiding it low towards the far corner, leaving Ter Stegen with no chance. What a moment for the Italian outfit.
Umtiti has to defend the near post as Under sends a low cross into the box. However, Roma have a corner...
81' Under almost collects a long ball forward from De Rossi in the box, but it does not sit for him to guide an effort towards the net. Pique and Umtiti were on hand to apply the pressure.
Substitution Andrés Iniesta Luján André Filipe Tavares Gomes
79' SAVE! TER STEGEN KEEPS ROMA AT BAY! Florenzi lifts a dangerous cross to the back post from the right flank. Kolarov gambles and guides an effort towards the bottom corner, but Ter Stegen reacts to punch it away from danger. A fine save from the German.
78' Messi surges towards the edge of the box and goes to pull the trigger, but before he can shoot he is crowded out by a number of Roma defenders.
77' El Shaarawy replaces Nainggolan for the home side.
76' Jesus catches Suarez inadvertently with a loose arm and the forward hits the deck. Barcelona plead to the referee for a second yellow card, but the official does not yield.

67' SAVE! Strootman lifts the ball into the path of Nainggolan into the box, but the Belgian's low drive is well held by Ter Stegen.
65' WIDE! Strootman tries an ambitious effort from distance on the right flank, skewing his left-footed drive well wide of the post.
63' Messi goes into the book for clipping the heels of Kolarov on the charge.
61' Barcelona need a response here. A goal from the visitors would heap pressure back on to the Italian outfit.
59' Fazio brings down Iniesta down the flank and somehow escapes a second booking. The Barcelona players are not happy with the referee.
58' GOALLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!! DE ROSSI HOLDS HIS NERVE! Roma pull within a goal of Barcelona as the skipper converts from 12 yards. There was huge presssure on the Italian, but he buried his effort with a firm strike into the bottom corner. Ter Stegen was beaten, despite guessing correctly. Game on.
57' Pique goes into the book for the challenge.
PENALTY TO ROMA! Dzeko is hauled down in the box by Pique. After consulting with the official behind the goal, the referee points to the spot.
56' Schick breaks forward down the right inside channel after Strootman presses Iniesta to regain possession. However, he gets crowded out before he fire at goal by Umtiti.
54' Barcelona are trying to break out from the back down the flanks, pushing Suarez and Messi into the wide areas. Roma are still dominating the contest.
52' Suarez and Messi almost pounce on a mistake by Fazio, but Roma have enough men back to quell the danger as Jesus makes an important challenge.
51' Roma are maintaining their physical edge from the opening 45 minutes. Barcelona are not coping well with the presence of Dzeko in the final third.
49' Dzeko works the ball out to the right flank to Florenzi, but he fails to pick out a maroon shirt in the box with his cross. Fazio keeps the pressure on down the right, only to see his low cross blocked.
46' We're back underway at the Stadio Olimpico.
Roma have been outstanding in the first half and take a deserved 1-0 lead into the break thanks to Edin Dzeko's early strike. Eusebio Di Francesco's men still need a further two goals to swing the tie in their favour, although it should have been only one as Patrick Schick missed a glorious opening to notch their second, heading narrowly wide of the post. Barcelona have been quiet, especially Lionel Messi, who has wasted three openings in the first period.
HALF-TIME: ROMA 1-0 BARCELONA

44' Jesus brings down Messi on the flank and goes into the book.

37' OVER! Florenzi floats a cross to the back post for Dzeko to attack. He leaps above Semedo to power his effort towards the net, but Ter Stegen rises to tip the ball over the bar.
34' The examination of the Barcelona defence continues by Di Francesco's men. They've been brilliant this evening, but need to find their clinical edge inside the box.
32' Nainggolan leads his team forward and goes for the drive from the edge of the box. It hits a crowd of players and almost falls for Schick in the box. However, unlike Dzeko, he cannot get the decisive touch as Pique makes a vital sliding challenge ahead of him.
31' Roma should be 2-0 ahead on the night and within striking distance of taking the advantage in the tie. Schick will hope that he and his team-mates will not be rueing that miss come the end of the match.
29' CHANCE! SCHICK HAS TO SCORE! Fazio is afforded time to send a cross into the box. The delivery is perfect for the forward, who is unmarked in the middle. He guides a header low towards the bottom corner, but his effort travels wide of the post. A huge moment in the game.
28' Busquets searches for a long ball over the top for Messi, but Alisson has a good starting position and claims with ease ahead of the Argentine.
26' Dzeko works the ball inside for Kolarov on the surge. Pique manages to get across at the last second to divert the ball behind before the full-back can shoot at goal.
OVER! Space opens up for Dzeko to shoot from distance, but the forward can only smash his effort well over the bar.
25' Rakitic pushes upfield, but loses out in a challenge with Jesus. Strootman attempts to lead a counter, only to be brought down by Iniesta. The referee keeps his yellow card in his pocket.
23' The pressure on the ball from Roma has been consistent. They've penned Barcelona back in their own half and more importantly have kept Messi quiet.

18' Florenzi breaks behind Alba on the right flank, but the Spaniard recovers well to make the closing challenge. Alba had to make that tackle otherwise the Italian was through in the right inside channel.
16' Dzeko flicks the ball on into the path of Nainggolan on the charge, only for the Belgian to scuff his effort at goal.
15' Schick leads a counter for the home side and feeds Dzeko on the edge of the box. The striker beats one challenge, but then loses out to Busquets on the follow-up.
14' Roma are employing a high press up the field and are not allowing Barca to have an easy passage out from the back.
13' CLOSE! Kolarov whips a pinpoint cross into the box from a corner and Schick rises highest to head at goal. Ter Stegen comes off his line, but fails to beat the forward to the delivery. Fortunately for the German, Schick's effort sails over the bar.
12' Barcelona have been knocked out of their rhythm by Roma's early goal. They've been very nervy with their passing at the back.
10' OVER! Poor from Messi after he waits an age for Roma to align their wall. He curls his effort over the five-man unit, but the ball sails well over the bar.
8' Messi is brought down 25 yards from goal by De Rossi and it hands the Argentine an excellent chance to respond from the free-kick.
6' De Rossi floats a cross into the box from the middle of the field and Dzeko is able to nudge the ball into the net.
GOALLLLLLLLLLL!!!! ROMA HAVE AN EARLY GOAL!!!!! Game on at the Stadio Olimpico as Dzeko pounces. De Rossi floats a cross into the box and the forward peels off his man in the area. He gets the slightest of touches to nudge his strike past Ter Stegen into the net. The home fans are bouncing now.
5' Iniesta releases Suarez into acres of space down the left flank. However, Manolas does brilliantly at the back to hold him, while Jesus completes the defending by blocking out Messi.
4' SAVE & OVER! Barcelona press down the right and space opens up for Sergi Roberto, but he drives his effort straight at Alisson. Roma lose the ball from the keeper's kick out immediately and Semedo tees up Messi for a strike. However, the Argentine fires over the bar from the edge of the box.
3' Iniesta drives to the edge of the box before firing at goal, but his effort is blocked by a wall of maroon shirts.
1' Jesus clatters into Sergi Roberto in the opening stages of the match. A tone-setting challenge from the Roma defender.
We're underway at the Stadio Olimpico.

Lionel Messi was at his imperious best to guide Barca to victory over Leganes in LaLiga. Ernesto Valverde's men remain on course to reclaim the Primera Division crown as Messi scored a hat-trick to secure a 3-1 win, maintaining their healthy lead over Atletico Madrid. Valverde will be desperate for a drama-free evening at the Stadio Olimpico.
I Lupi suffered a defeat at the hand of Fiorentina in Serie A at the weekend on home soil. Marco Benassi and Giovanni Simeone scored in the first half to condemn them to defeat. As a result, Roma are in a desperate battle to keep hold of fourth place in the table. However, a strong outing this evening will change their perspective.
Barcelona are in command of the contest following their 4-1 win in the first leg at the Camp Nou. Own goals from Daniele De Rossi and Kostas Manolas along with strikes from Gerard Pique and Luis Suarez have handed the Spanish outfit their decisive lead, although Edin Dzeko's away goal could loom large if Eusebio Di Francesco's men can stage a fightback.
Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the Champions League quarter-final second leg clash between Roma and Barcelona at the Stadio Olimpico.
