Minute   Description
Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Until next time, goodbye.
Borussia Dortmund are held by Wolfsburg at Signal Iduna Park, spurning the opportunity to go back to second in the Bundesliga. Peter Stoger's men were not clincal enough in the final third, missing the presence of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang along with Christian Pulisic. Jadon Sancho and Alexander Isak both hit the post, while Andriy Yarmonlenko missed a glorious opening from close range, firing over the bar. Wolfsburg had opportunities as well, but Roman Burki was at his best to deny Daniel Didavi and Willian. It's an important result for Martin Schmidt's men in their battle against the drop.
FULL-TIME: BORUSSIA DORTMUND 0-0 WOLFSBURG
90'+2 The referee ends the contest.
90'+1 Dortmund press forward and Piszczek sends a cross into the box from the right, but Casteels is able to gather.
90' There will be two minutes of added time.
89' Dahoud surges forward and looks for the offload inside the box to Kagawa, but his pass is cut out with ease by Tisserand.
87' Dahoud is booked for his part in the altercation.
Guilavogui for a melee with Dahoud.
86' CASTEELS! The Wolfsburg keeper comes off his line to stop Schurrle breaking through. He makes the first challenge, but the ball travels ahead of him. He goes in for a second tackle on Weigl and wins again. However, he's miles off his line and Sahin gathers to shoot from distance, only to fire wide of the post. That was dangerous from Casteels.
85' OVER! Brekalo leads Wolfsburg on the counter from the corner after a poor delivery from Schurrle. The midfieder releases Steffen over the top, but he gets the ball back from his team-mate. Brekalo has space and time to fire at goal, but he curls his effort over the bar.
84' Schurrle breaks down the right and he searches for the early cross into Kagawa, but William gets back to send the delivery behind.
82' Sancho collects a cross from Schurrle at the back post and he goes for the early strike, but a wall of defenders diverts his effort over the bar.
81' SAVE! Wolfsburg win a free-kick on the edge of the box as Origi is brought down. Arnold takes the set-piece and strikes at goal, only to see his tame effort saved by Burki.
79' CHANCE! Schurrle does well to win the ball in the box from Toljan's lofted pass. He takes the strike on the volley with a first-time attempt, but his direction is off, firing well wide of the target.
78' Sahin replaces Yarmolenko for the home side.
77' SAVE! William tries to create something out of nothing for the visitors with a strike from distance on his right foot. He connects sweetly and his effort powers towards the net. However, Burki rises and just gets his fingertips to the ball to turn it narowly over the bar. A brilliant stop from the Dortmund keeper.
75' Verhaegh lifts a cross into the box after getting the better of Toljan down the flank, but Burki comes through a crowd of players to gather.
72' BLOCK! Sancho surges towards the edge of the box and opts to go for the strike, but he cannot force his effor through a crowd of green and white shirts.
71' Schurrle releases Toljan down the left flank and the full-back has options in the middle, but he lifts his delivery straight into the hands of Casteels.
68' Isak is withdrawn for Schurrle.
67' Yarmolenko latches on to the ball down the right flank and he cuts inside to shoot on his left foot, only to smash his effort well wide of the target. It has not been his day in front of goal.
66' CLOSE! Steffen almost makes an immediate impact as he tries to latch on to Origi's cross at the back post. However, Piszczek does brilliantly to take the ball off his head, diverting the delivery behind for a corner.
64' Wolfsburg's new signing Steffen replaces Didavi.
62' Dortmund are moving the ball around the pitch with ease. However, their problems have come with their lack of clinical edge in the final third. They're missing Aubameyang's finishing today.
60' Dahoud surges forward through the middle of the Wolfsburg midfield, but his offload to Yarmolenko on the edge of the box goes astray.
58' SAVE! Guilavogui dissects the Dortmund defence with a brilliant pass through to Origi. The Belgian tries to lift his effort over Burki, but the keeper makes the stop and the ball deflects off the Wolfsburg forward to go out for a goal-kick.
56' Dahoud replaces Gotze for the home side.
55' Sancho probes again at the Wolfsburg defence and he tries to force a low cross at goal, but William diverts it behind for a corner.
53' OFF THE POST! Sancho is denied by the post. Dortmund's two youngster have been denied by the woodwork today. Kagawa does brilliantly to create the opening as he raids down the right inside channel before firing the ball across the face of goal. Sancho latches on to the delivery beyond the back stick and has to turn it back. However, his effort clatters off the post.
50' Arnold goes down in pain on the deck following a challenge from Piszczek, but he appears to be ok to continue.
48' MISS! YARMOLENKO MISSES A SITTER! Dortmund should be ahead as Gotze raids forward and fires the ball across the face of goal. Yarmolenko has space and time in the middle to pick his spot, but he fires his effort over the bar from six yards. A shocking miss.
47' Gotze collects on the edge of the box and tries to lift a ball over the top for Yarmolenko, but his pass is cut out by William.
46' We're back underway in this Bundesliga clash.
It's goalless at the break between Borussia Dortmund and Wolfsburg at Signal Iduna Park. Both sides have had one clear-cut opening apiece to break the deadlock, but Daniel Didavi was denied by Roman Burki, while Alexandar Isak struck the post for the home side. There was a lack of quality at times in the final third as the two teams look to regain their match sharpness after the winter break.
HALF-TIME: BORUSSIA DORTMUND 0-0 WOLFSBURG
45' The referee ends the first half.
44' Dortmund press forward down the right through Yarmolenko once again. He offoads to Piszczek, but his left-footed strike is blocked by a wall of defenders.
42' OFF THE POST! Isak is denied by the woodwork. Gotze opens up the Wolfsburg defence with a pinpoint pass into the box and the Swede takes a brilliant first touch. He goes for goal on the half-volley, but his effort clips the post and bounces wide. So unfortunate for the young forward.
40' Sancho collects down the left flank and tries to thread a pass through to Kagawa, but the ball just evades the midfielder and goes through to Casteels.
38' Yarmolenko attempts to release the run of Isak in behind the Wolfsburg defence, but the offside flag is raised against the Swede.
37' SAVE! Malli opens up the Dortmund defence with a backheel to Didavi in the box and the midfielder strikes with power low towards the bottom corner. However, Burki makes a fine save to deny Wolfsburg the opening goal.
35' Malli weaves his way into the box and opens up room to shoot, but Sokratis makes a fine challenge to stop his progress. Wolfsburg are growing in confidence.
33' BLOCK! Malli turns the ball round the corner to Origi in the box and he turns to fire at goal. Only a good block from Toprak denies the Belgian, diverting the ball wide of the post.
31' WIDE! Dortmund counter and space opens up for Yarmolenko on the right flank. He shapes to cut inside on his left foot, but tries to catch out Casteels with a right-footed strike, only to smash his effort into the side-netting.
Origi leads his side forward on the charge to the edge of the Dortmund box. However, a fine sliding challenge from Toprak stops him in his tracks.
30' Isak rises to meet the ball in the box, but he guides a meek effort well wide of the post.
29' Yarmolenko goes on the surge down the right flank and wins a corner off the legs of William. Another opportunity for Kagawa to deliver the ball into the penalty area.
27' Wolfsburg waste a free-kick of their own as Didavi's delivery is cleared by Toprak in the box. The quality from the wide areas has not been there from the teams thus far this afternoon.
26' Origi rises to clear the cross from Kagawa as Dortmund waste an opportunity to test the Wolfsburg defence. The home side are lacking a clinical edge at the moment.
25' Yarmolenko is caught by William with a loose challenge and Kagawa will lift the resulting free-kick from the right flank into the box.
22' WIDE! Sancho opens up the Wolfsburg defence with an incisive pass to Piszczek down the right inside channel. The full-back puts a good low cross into the middle, but Yarmolenko turns his effort wide of the post.
20' CHANCE! Yarmolenko lifts a dangerous cross to the back post for Isak, but the ball sails over his head. Sancho tries to keep the attack alive, but he scuffs his effort wide of the target.
18' Dortmund are trying to find their rhythm after the winter break. Their passing has not been crisp enough to expose the visitors and create a clear-cut opening yet.
16' Uduokhai almost sells his centre-back partner Tisserand short with a loose pass, but his team-mate is able to gather under pressure from Sancho.
15' Wolfsburg are getting numbers behind the ball and are forcing the home side to be precise in their passing over the half-way line.
14' Dortmund use patience in the final third to open up room for Piszczek down the right. He fires a low cross into the box, but Arnold clears the danger at the near post.
11' Wolfsburg waste the corner as Didavi overhits his cross into the box, while the referee awards a free-kick for a foul on the box anyway.
10' Origi battles well down the left to win a corner for the visitors as Sokratis sends the ball out for the set-piece.
9' Space opens up for Piszczek to fire at goal from distance, but he can only shoot a tame effort into the hands of Casteels.
8' Yarmolenko has space on the break as Kagawa releases him behind the Wolfsburg defence, but he cannot take the ball in stride. He keeps the attack alive to fire a low cross into the box, only for Arnold to clear behind.
5' Dortmund are seeing a lot of the ball in the early stages, but have not been able to move into final third to test the Wolfsburg defence.
3' Sancho has space to raid forward, but he loses possession as Guilavogui comes across to win the ball with a strong challenge.
2' Yarmolenko has space down the right to lift a cross into the box, but Casteels is able to gather his cross with relative ease.
1' We're underway at Signal Iduna Park.
Marcel Tisserand, Maximilian Arnold and Josip Brekalo come into the side in three changes from Wolfsburg's last league outing against Koln.
In the absence of Aubameyang, 17-year-old Englishman Jadon Sancho makes his first competitive start for Dortmund. Alexander Isak also makes his first start of the season as he leads the line, while Jeremy Toljan comes in at left-back to replace the injured Marcel Schmelzer.
Wolfsburg subs: Steffen, Dimata, Gerhardt, Osimhen, Grun, Jung, Knoche.
WOLFSBURG (4-2-3-1): Casteels; Verhaegh, Tisserand, Uduokhai, William; Guilavogui, Arnold; Brekalo, Didavi, Malli; Origi.
Borussia Dortmund subs: Schurrle, Durm, Dahoud, Weidenfeller, Zagadou, Castro, Sahin.
BORUSSIA DORTMUND (4-3-3): Burki; Piszczek, Sokratis, Toprak, Toljan; Kagawa, Weigl, Gotze; Yarmolenko, Isak, Sancho.
The team news has been announced and we'll start with the home side.
Wolfsburg are in trouble in the bottom half of the table. Martin Schmidt's men are just three points clear of the relegation zone and are winless in their last three matches. Before the winter break they lost 1-0 to Koln on the road and are in desperate need of a stronger outing today to keep themselves from getting dragged into a relegation scrap.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been left out of the Dortmund squad this afternoon due to disiciplinary reasons. His future has been under speculation since last summer and the his absence will only fuel further exit talk.
Dortmund return to action from their winter break well off the pace in the title race. However, Peter Stoger's men have won their last two matches on the bounce and a third win in a row would take them into second place. Die Schwarzgelben had a brilliant start to the campaign, but lost their way under Peter Bosz. Stoger has the challenge of keeping his team focused, despite their primary goal looking beyond them this term.
Good afternoon and welcome to the live commentary of the Bundesliga clash between Borussia Dortmund and Wolfsburg at Signal Iduna Park.
