Commentary

Minute   Description
The scoreline may suggest a comfortable afternoon for Bayern Munich but it had been anything but that. Hannover refused to go down without a fight even when 3-1 down and they can take a lot away from this performance this afternoon. Arturo Vidal's header gave Bayern the lead before Lewandowski had an effort ruled out for offside. Barely a minute later Ulreich brought down Klaus to concede a penalty. Fullkrug scored, which was ruled out for encroachment, before his second effort was saved by the Bayern keeper. Hannover were completely pegged back in the second half and the Bavarians made their dominance count once again when Coman fired them back in front from close range. Hannover began to push forward for an equaliser but could not find their way beyond the Bayern backline, with Harnik's silly foul on Coman allowing Lewandowski to fire home his seventh consecutive Bundesliga goal at the Allianz arena and secure the three points for the home side. A good performance from Hannover but, in the end, Bayern walk away with all three points and increase their league lead to six points.
FULL-TIME: BAYERN MUNICH 3-1 HANNOVER 96.
90'+3 Hannover try to find a way beyond this Bayern defence but Sane's cross flies wide.
90'+2 Just over a minute left to play and Hannover continue to push forward. They are certainly beaten at this point but they have continued to be hopeful and put in 100% effort throughout.
90' The fourth official has indicated three minutes of additional time.
Final change for Bayern as Kingsley Coman is replaced by Franck Ribéry.
88' Hannover will feel hard done by. They have defended well in this second half and a very poor sliding tackle by Harnik has cost them any hope of snatching a point.
87' GOAL! Robert Lewandowski slots the penalty into the bottom right as Tschauner dives left. He becomes the first player in Bayern Munich's history to score in all of the first seven home games of a Bundesliga campaign. Brilliantly placed and that is surely game over for Hannover now.
85' PENALTY! Substitute Harnik brings down Coman just inside the box. Lewandowski stood over it...
84' Hannover are starting to apply the pressure now as Bayern rely on the counter attack to kill the game off. The home side earn themselves a corner as Rodriguez's low cross is deflected out of play.
82' Vidal with a long ranged effort and Tschauner finds himself equal to the shot once again. The following corner comes to nothing as the referee blows for a Hannover free-kick.
81' Thomas Müller, who has been brilliant this afternoon, is replaced fpr these final 10 minutes or so by David Alaba.
80' Oliver Sorg makes way for left-back Miiko Albornoz.
79' Hannover with another rare chance forward, this time through substitute Fossum. His ranged effort flies wide though. Hannover still showing signs that they are not quite out of this yet. They are starting to see a little more of the ball.
77' Hannover caught out again and it takes another great save from Tschauner to keep the score at 2-1. Muller quickly spots the run of Lewandowski and floats a chipped pass into the run of the forward. Lewandowski shows a brilliant first touch to set up the shot but Tschauner is quickly off his line to close the space and save the shot.
74' Rodriguez finds Coman with acres of space on the left wing. He cross towards the centre of the box for Lewandowski, who's attempted right-footed volley is miscued and bounces wide of the right post.
73' Bayern are happy to move the ball around a little more patiently now and take control of the game. They are slowly working the opening for the opportunity to kill this tie once and for all.
71' Muller again makes a debatable decision as he does well to turn his defender and has space to shoot on the right of the box. He opts to try and slot the ball into the path of Lewandowski however and again it comes to nothing.
70' Hannover had held on brilliantly until that goal, and it took them finally breaking forward for Bayern to find some space behind the defence.
68' Charlison Benschop is replaced by Martin Harnik.
67' GOAL! Kingsley Coman shows an excellent first touch to bring the ball down near the left post before firing a powerful left-footed effort beyond two covering defenders and the Hannover goalkeeper into the top right corner. Great work by Coman and Bayern restore their lead.
66' A rare break forward for Hannover but Fullkrug finds himself lacking support. He has to turn back and play the ball for Klaus, who tries his luck from around 30 yards out. It is well blocked and Bayern are back on the front foot.
65' Cross after cross coming in from Bayern at the moment and they are quick to re apply the pressure as soon as Hannover clear. The away side are not even getting chance to push away from their own box in the last couple of minutes.
63' Excellent save! Another cross from the left wing, this time by Coman. Tolisso rises to meet it in the centre of the box and it takes a wonderful reflex save from Tschauner to parry the ball over the crossbar. The Hannover captain has been in fine form this afternoon.
Rafinha with a dangerous cross towards the edge of the six yard box but Tschauner is quickly off his line to catch it. Hannover are completely pegged back at the moment.
61' A great chance goes begging for Bayern. Rodriguez turns provider as he chips the ball into the box for Muller. The German forward is very central, but opts to try and chip it towards Lewandowski instead, getting too much lift on the ball and seeing it bounce out of play for a goal kick. Shooting would've been the better option there as he was clear through on goal.
59' Thomas Müller is booked for pulling down Oliver Sorg.
58' Javier Martínez is replaced by Corentin Tolisso for Bayern's first change of the afternoon.
57' Hannover with a chance on the counter but they are unable to make it count. Klaus opts to slide the ball towards the right of the box for Julian Korb, but his cross is blocked at the first man and Bayern can clear.
55' Bayern have a deflected shot from Vidal cleared off the line and suddenly Fullkrug is charging into the box at the other end. He has two defenders blocking his route inside the box so he shoots with his left foot towards the near post, which is rising high but Ulreich reacts well to save it.
54' Rodriguez with yet another effort on the edge of the box, this time flying narrowly over the crossbar. Hannover are affording the Colombian a little too much space and he is getting closer and closer each time.
53' Electrifying pace from Coman as Bayern find space to break forward. He makes his way to the edge of the box and opts to try the shot instead of finding Lewandowsi. It is well saved by Tschauner and eventually cleared away from danger by Anton.
51' Bayern once again come forward and once again it falls to Rodriguez on the edge of the box. He curls his shot towards the top left corner but as with his earlier effort, it is just narrowly wide of the post.
50' All Bayern in these opening stages of the second half. Hannover are just having to sit deep and close the gaps behind their back line.
48' Bayern look to counter after a Hannover corner is cleared at the near post. It falls to Coman on the left wing but his chipped pass for the run of Muller is nowhere near the forward and it bounces harmlessly to Tschauner.
47' Bayern are straight on the front foot. Rodriguez finds space on the edge of the box, curling a low effort narrowly wide of the left post.
46' We are back underway here at the Allianz. Can Hannover keep Bayern out?
Here is the change. Manuel Schmiedebach is off, with Iver Fossum providing fresh legs and energy in midfield.
The players are coming back out onto the pitch, ahead of the start of the second half. Hannover look set to make a half-time change.
An excellent first-half of football but on the balance of play Bayern Munich should have the three points in the bag. A crazy few minutes of football saw a goal disallowed for Bayern before a Hannover penalty, which was scored, was forced to be retaken for encroachment at the other end. The follow up was saved, but Hannover did eventually get the equaliser to Arturo Vidal's header with a well-placed header of their own from Charlison Benschop. Hannover hung on by a thread in the closing stages but they go in at the break level and will need an impressive second half to survive the expected onslaught they are going to face.
HALF-TIME: BAYERN MUNICH 1-1 HANNOVER 96
45'+1 Great save! Rodriguez's cross from the free-kick on the left of the box is inch-perfect, and it takes an excellent reaction save from Tschauner to push Muller's headed effort onto the crossbar and away from danger.
45' Julian Korb is booked for a foul on Coman on the edge of the box.
The fourth official has indicated two minutes of additional time.
42' Lewandowski muscles Sane off the ball inside the box but the referee blows for a foul and the Poland forward is frustrated with the decision. General sings of frustration are starting to show through this Bayern side.
41' Tschauner plays himself into trouble as he dives out to punch a cross clear. It falls straight to Vidal outside the box, who's rushed effort hits a defender, although it looked to be rolling wide anyway.
38' Bayern have reacted to the equaliser and have gone back to pegging Hannover in their own box. It looks likely Hannover will have to hang on until half time here.
35' Felix Klaus provides the cross from the corner for Benschop to head in to level the score.
GOAL! Felix Kraus's corner from the left is met at the front post by Charlison Benschop, who climbs high to direct a glancing header towards the back post and beyond Ulreich, who can only watch the ball bounce in. Hannover rewarded for their willingness to get forward. 1-1.
34' Klaus chests the ball down well for Marvin Bakalorz to fire a low effort towards the bottom left corner. Ulreich saves but it rolls out to Klaus who crosses towards the back post, which is cleared away. Hannover earn themselves a corner.
33' Marvin Bakalorz is booked for a foul on Martinez.
The game has restored to balance after that crazy couple of minutes and Hannover are starting to see a little more of the ball.
31' Muller has been impressive this afternoon and he shows his quality again. Javi Martinez slides the ball into the box for the Germany forward, where fires a right-footed effort towards the left of the goal, which flies narrowly wide.
27' Niclas Füllkrug scores the first penalty but it is disallowed for encroachment and he is forced to retake it. A good five or six players were well inside the box before the forward had even made contact with the ball.
26' Sven Ulreich is booked for a foul on the penalty area on Felix Klaus.
25' Unbelievable scenes here at the Allianz Arena! Bayern look to doubled their lead as Lewandowski fires the ball home, but a delayed conversation between the referee and his video aassistant rules it out for offside. Hannover are straight up the other end and look to be through on goal, where Sven Ulreich brings down a player in the box to concede a penalty.
23' Hannover playing themselves into a spot of trouble inside their own penalty area, but Sane shows great awareness and skill to wriggle away from the Bayern forwards and clear the ball out, earning his side a throw in the process.
21' Bayern exploit the space they are now finding behind Hannover as the away side search for a way back into the tie. Rafinha has space inside the box for a shot but his low effort towards the bottom left corner is well saved by Tschauner.
17' Thomas Müller swings in the cross off balance to find Vidal at the back post, who places his header brilliantly into the right corner of the goal.
GOAL! Bayern find the breakthrough and it had been coming. Thomas Muller does brilliantly off balance to get his cross away, which finds Arturo Vidal at the back post. The Chilean places his header perfectly towards the right corner and there was nothing Tschauner could do about it. Great header, Bayern have the lead their dominance has deserved.
15' Hannover starting to find space on the counter but so far they are being well marshalled by this Bayern defence.
13' Bayern get another corner and Muller is the danger man once again. Joshua Kimmich slots the forward into the right hand side of the box, who tries his luck from a tight angle. Tschauner spreads himself well though to save, with the following corner being well dealt with by the away defence.
11' James Rodriguez with a set-piece on the left of the Hannover box, but it is a poor delivery from the Colombian, swinging it high over the bar.
10' Coman tries to use his pace to break into space down the left wing but Waldemar Anton is wise to the danger and clears it away.
8' The initial corner is cleared and it drops to Vidal outside the box. It is hit low and looks as though it lacks any real power to threaten Tschauner in the Hannover goal, but the ball still somehow finds its way to roll into the right post.
7' Intense pressure from Bayern at the moment as Hannover cannot get out of their own half. Muller's cross earns the first corner of the game.
5' Bayern with another attack as Lewandowski does well to shift into space on the edge of the box before unleashing an effort towards goal. Fortunately for Hannover, it is wild and high over the bar.
4' Close! Hannover are carved open and Vidal tries to slot into the bottom right corner from the edge of the box, but Philipp Tschauner does well to get low and get a hand to it. Bayern starting to pile on the pressure.
3' Bayern with their first real push forward. Hannover are pushed to the edge of their box, where Arturo Vidal swings in a dangerous cross from the right wing towards the front post. Robert Lewandowski cannot quite make enough contact.
2' The potential pattern of the game emerging early on this afternoon, atleast as far as Hannover are concerned. They are looking to cut the passing lanes as far as the halfway line before launching a counter-attack. No success so far but Bayern will have to be cautious.
1' Hannover get us underway, kicking left to right.
The two sides are making their way out onto the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off.
Three changes to the Hannover side from their draw with VfB Stuttgart last weekend. Manuel Schmiedebach replaces Pirmin Schwegier in midfield while Charlison Benschopp and Niclas Fullkrug replace Ihlas Bebou and Martin Harnik in the front-three. Salif Sane and Harnik have both overcome their injury/illness to take their place in the starting line-up and on the bench respectively.
Bayern make four changes from the side that were beaten 2-1 by Monchengladbach last weekend. Jerome Boateng will partner Mats Hummels in defence, while Rafinha returns to the side after recovering from injury to take his place at left-back. Kingsley Coman takes his place on the left wing in place of Corentin Tolisso, while Thomas Muller starts as expected in the number 10 role.
Hannover 96 Substitutes: Albornoz, Hubner, Esser, Maier, Fossum, Karaman, Harnik.
Hannover 96 XI (3-4-3): Tschauner; Sorg, Sane, Anton; Korb, Schmiedebach, Bakalorz, Ostrzolek; Benschopp, Klaus, Fullkrug.
Bayern Munich Substitutes: Sule, Starke, Tolisso, Friedl, Ribery, Alaba, Rudy.
Bayern Munich XI (4-2-3-1): Ulriech; Kimmich, Boateng, Hummels, Rafinha; Martinez, Vidal; Rodriguez, Muller, Coman; Lewandowski.
There’s just over 15 minutes left to go until kick-off, so let’s have a look at how the two teams will be lining up this afternoon…
Breitenreiter could have the luxury of a fully fit squad to pick from against Bayern this afternoon if his only two potential absentee’s pass late fitness tests. Defender Salif Sane suffered a minor thigh injury during midweek training but is expected to be available this afternoon, whereas forward Martin Harnik has been suffering with the flu and will be assessed this afternoon.
Hannover come into their match against the league leaders on the back of a three-game winless run, last tasting victory in the league when they beat Borussia Dortmund 4-2 at home. It took a late penalty from Niclas Fullkrug to rescue a point for Andre Breitenreiter’s side against Stuttgart last weekend and they will be wary of the sizeable task if they are to break that duct against today’s opposition.
Bayern will be missing a few key players through injury for this encounter, as Manuel Neuer (fractured foot), Arjen Robben and Thiago (thigh) remain out. Rafinha, Franck Ribery and David Alaba have all recovered from respective injuries and could potentially feature this afternoon, while Heynckes confirmed during his news conference on Friday that Thomas Muller will start today against Hannover.
Bayern’s defeat at the hands of Borussia Monchengladbach last weekend ended a run of 10 consecutive wins across all competitions for the Bundesliga champions, and manager Jupp Heynckes will be wary of avoiding any further slip ups with RB Leipzig only three points adrift of them in the table. The Bavarians are aiming for their sixth consecutive Bundesliga title and they certainly have the quality in the side to keep themselves on track for that this afternoon.
Good afternoon and welcome to our live text commentary of today’s Bundesliga game between Bayern Munich and Hannover at the Allianz Arena.
