Commentary

Minute   Description
Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Until next time, goodbye.
Strasbourg have held out for a famous win over Paris Saint-Germain. Goals from Nuno Da Costa and Stephane Bahoken have guided them to the three points this evening. Kylian Mbappe brought the visitors back into the contest in the first half, but Unai Emery's men were not at their best in the final third, missing a plethora of chances at the death. It allowed the home side to see out the victory to move three points clear of the relegation zone. PSG's defeat will give hope to the chasing pack that the club are mortal this season.
FULL-TIME: STRASBOURG 2-1 PSG
90'+10 THAT IT'S! STRASBOURG HAVE HELD OUT FOR THE WIN!
90'+9 MISS! KIMPEMEBE MISSES A SITTER! The defender has a chance to snatch a point as a loose ball bounces towards him from the resulting corner. However, he loses his composure and hammers his effort over the bar from two yards.
SAVE! Alves sends the ball into the box and Rabiot swings his foot at the ball on the half-volley. His effort looks goalbound, but Oukidja reacts to turn the ball over the bar.
90'+8 Martin is booked for his foul on Verratti.
Kimpembe goes into the book.
Martin brings down Verratti and PSG are handed a chance to throw more men forward into the box.
90'+7 Neymar is booked for his challenge on Lienard.
90'+6 Neymar wipes out Lienard as he tries to raid on the counter and gives away a free-kick. More time will come off the clock.
90'+5 Rabiot lifts a cross into the box, but Kone rises highest to head the ball back to Oukidja away from Marquinhos. The PSG defender suffers a cut to his eye in the aftermath and requires treatment off the pitch.
90'+4 The home side are soaking up the pressure thus far. Can they hold for the remaning five minutes of the contest?
90'+2 Saadi clips Kimpembe and goes into the book.
Lienard goes into the book for running the length of the field and putting the ball into the PSG net. The ball was obviously dead, but if you're going to get booked for timewasting best do it in style.
Neymar lines up a strike from 25 yards, only to curl his effort over the bar. The shooting has not been the best from distance from the visitors.
90'+1 SAVE! Kimpembe latches on to a loose ball on the edge of the box and he goes for the drive, only to smash his effort straight at Oukidja.
90' There will be nine minutes of added time.
89' Alves lifts the ball over the top of the Strasbourg defence for Cavani's run, but the Uruguayan is caught offside. The home side are almost there.
Mbappe wins a second corner for the visitors, but Kone rises highest in the box to head Neymar's delivery clear of danger.
88' Yuri goes on the charge down the left flank and he wins a corner for the visitors. The pressure is unrelenting at the moment.
86' Grimm replaces Da Costa for the home side.
85' OVER! Alves whips a free-kick to the back post for Kimpembe to challenge. The defender tries to react on the stretch, but he can only guide his effort over the bar.
84' It's all hands on deck for Strasbourg at the back as PSG are exerting serious pressure on their goal. They have to hold firm here.
83' WIDE! Neymar lifts a free-kick to the back post and Mbappe knocks the ball to Yuri. He cannot find a way through so the French forward takes over with a volleyed effort. Howeer, Mbappe's strike is deflected wide of the post by a wall of blue shirts.
82' Bahoken makes way for Saadi.
81' Lo Celso replaces Pastore for the visitors.
BLOCK! Neymar raids into space down the right inside channel and he cuts the ball back across the face of goal, but Cavani's low effort is blocked by the body of Mangane. The home side are putting their bodies on the line at the back.
80' Draxler makes way for Verratti.
Draxler latches on to a throughball from Neymar down the left inside channel, but the German cannot take the ball in stride.
78' The yellow shirts are moving the ball on the edge of the box with Neymar the focal point, but the home side are holding firm at the back.
76' OVER! Martin collects 25 yards from goal and there is space in front of him for the strike, but he can only blast his effort over the bar.
75' Cavani relaces Di Maria for Emery's men.
74' Neymar and Cavani probe on the edge of the box for the visitors, but there's no way through a wall of blue shirts for the duo.
73' Oukidja makes the claim with ease from Di Maria's cross. That will settle any nerves that the keeper had before entering the fray.
72' The keeper will be tested by Di Maria's corner from the right as he makes his way on the field.
Oukidja replaces the injured Kamara between the sticks.
69' Kamara is down in the box and is receiving treatment after injuring himself in a collision with Kimpembe.
68' BLOCK! Kamara comes for a cross into the box and flaps at the ball. PSG keep the pressure on and Kimpembe goes for the strike from close range, but his goalbound effort hits Pastore to stop its path to the target. So unfortunate for he visitors.
66' WIDE! PSG are straight back on the offensive and Mbappe is afforded space in the box to turn and shoot, but his effort creeps past the post.
65' Da Costa flick Kamara's clearance into the path of Bahoken, who does the rest with a fine finish.
GOALLLLLl!!!!!! BAHOKEN FINDS THE NET! STRASBOURG REGAIN THE LEAD! The home side are back in front as PSG are caught out at the back. A flick-on from Da Costa releases Bahoken through the middle of the defence as he drifts between Kimpembe and Yuri. He races into the box before powering an effort over Areola into the net - a fine strike from the forward.
63' BLOCK! Neymar threads the ball through to Di Maria in the box and he tries to shape to shoot at goal, only to be denied by a block from Mangane.
61' Yuri has space to raid down the left flank, but he sends a disappointing cross to the near post that is gathered with ease by Kamara.
60' The home side have done a decent job of disrupting PSG's rhythm - much like the first half. However, they will be aware that the league leaders can up the ante at any moment.
58' Terrier has been in the action of late and he continues with a foul on Draxler. The second-half is starting to heat up between the teams.
57' Terrier has been cleared to continue, but that would have hurt the Strasbourg midfielder.
55' Pastore caught the midfielder with his boot on the head on the follow-through. The referee should have stopped the game for the incident.
54' Terrier goes on the charge for the home side, but he gets brought down by Pastore. However, the referee waves play on, much to the frustration of the home supporters.
52' OVER! Neymar carves out space for a strike on the left flank as he cuts in with a neat piece of skill. He gets power behind his effort, only to send his shot narrowly over the bar.
50' Da Costa boots the ball away in frustration following his challenge on Alves and goes into the book.
Da Costa capitalises on a mistake from Yuri and has support from two team-mates on the left flank. However, he fails to offload before Alves makes the covering tackles, quelling the opening for the home side.
49' WIDE! Mbappe has space to break on the counter and he speeds past Mangane to fire at goal, only to power his effort well wide of the post.
48' Seka latches on to a loose ball down the left and he cuts back inside on his right foot to shoot at goal, but Marquinhos makes the block.
46' Pastore latches on to a ball over the top of the Strasbourg defence and looks for space to fire at goal. He gets the ball out of his feet, only to drill his effort into the side-netting.
We're back underway in Strasbourg.
The players are back out for the second half, so we should be underway shortly.
Kylian Mbappe has brought PSG level at the break after Joia Nuno Da Costa put Strasbourg ahead in the 24th minute after being left unmarked from a free-kick. The visitors upped the ante towards the end of the half and after Mbappe levelled they could have taken the lead, only for Javier Pastore to be denied by the post. The game remains in the balance and the home side will be satisfied with their work thus far.
HALF-TIME: STRASBOURG 1-1 PSG
45'+1 The referee ends the first half.
45' There will be one minute of added time.
OFF THE POST! Pastore almost puts the visitors ahead on the stroke of half-time. Neymar raids down the right and he cuts the ball back into the box. Pastore takes a touch to control before spinning to shoot on his left foot, only to be denied by the post. The ball rebounds off the woodwork straight into the hands of Kamara.
44' Yuri catches Da Costa late and goes into the book.
42' Rabio raids forward and cuts the ball back for Mbappe to convert.
GOALLLLLLLL!!!! MBAPPE LEVELS FOR PSG! It had been coming and the league leaders get back on level terms through the forward. Rabiot makes a good run into the left inside channel and he cuts the ball back across the face of goal. Mbappe surges towards the near post and he fires his effort past Kamara into the net.
41' SAVE! Mbappe and Pastore combine on the edge of the box to tee up Di Maria for a strike. He hits the ball with his right foot, but can only fire a tame effort into the hands of Kamara. Frustration for the Argentine.
40' CHANCE! Neymar releases the run of Di Maria through the Strasbourg defence and the Argentine only has Kamara to beat. The winger clips his effort over the keeper, but the ball trickles wide of the post. Di Maria should have levelled the score there.
38' WIDE! Di Maria strikes the ball rather than Neymar and he makes a good connection with his strike, but it flies narrowly past the post.
37' Mangane brings down Pastore 30 yards from goal and the referee awards a free-kick to the visitors. The Brazilian is lining up the effort.
35' PSG have not been able to inject the pace tinto the game. The home side are playing deep and are not allowing the visitors the space they crave to use their pace in the final third.
33' Pastore floats the ball into the box and Neymar nods the ball on. Draxler wins the header in the air, but can only guide his header straight at Kamara.
31' Neymar swings a cross into the box, but Mangane is there first to clear with a thumping header. Emery's men are finding life tough to break down the home side.
30' Yuri raids down the left flank and he wins a corner for PSG, although Lala held his ground to stop the low cross.
29' Lala find space down the right and he tries to lift a cross to the near post, but the visitors manage to clear the danger.
27' Mbappe with a clever flick over the top of the Strasbourg defence but Di Maria can't reach it and, once again, the home side can clear.
26' Areola had to be quick off his line there to clear the ball after a risky back-pass left the goalkeeper under pressure.
24' This game is settling into a familiar pattern. PSG are in charge of the ball but look a little static in the final third up against Strasbourg's massed ranks. The hosts are content to threaten on the break, which they've done on a couple of occasions now.
23' Lienard and Da Costa combine to threaten PSG on the break, but Marquinhos intercepts a dangerous pass to get PSG out of trouble.
21' Lienard, who supplied the assist for the opener, has caught the eye for the hosts early on, leading a counter down the left flank to ease the mounting pressure on Strasbourg's backline.
18' And Draxler has also troubled the hosts, cutting in from the left and bending a shot just wide of the far post. He didn't quite get the attempt right, but PSG have responded well to going behind.
17' CHANCE! Pastore picked out Mbappe at the near post and his inventive backheel attempt was saved by Kamara.
16' And goalkeeper Kamara did well to gather Di Maria's delivery at an awkward height from the subsequent corner.
15' Neymar has an opportunity to return fire with a free-kick of his own outside the Strasbourg area, but it's deflected behind off the back of Aholou.
14' Dimitri Lienard swung in a lovely cross the free-kick which Rabiot conceded. But the PSG defence should have done better, it was a routine set-piece.
GOALLL!!!! Strasbourg have taken the lead against PSG! Da Costa was left unmarked from a free-kick after the visitors' defence stepped up and failed to catch him offside. It's 1-0.
12' It's Adrien Rabiot's turn to get a talking to from the ref after he shoved over Jean Eudes Aholou to give away a free-kick.
11' A neat ball over the top from Neymar played in his compatriot Dani Alves down the right there, but the former Barcelona and Juventus man could not keep his delivery in play.
10' Well, we've had a lot more fouls and free-kicks than chances so far, but PSG are looking relatively comfortable.
9' The whistle of Ruddy Buquet does blow now, though, Jonas Martin having gone in late on Di Maria. It's a little tetchy out there early on.
8' Strasbourg forward Joia Nuno Da Costa went down clutching his head there and seeking a free-kick from the man in the middle, but no free-kick is forthcoming and PSG retain possession.
7' A rather wild and hopeful shot from Mbappe sails harmlessly over the bar and draws whistles of derision from the home fans. He was never likely to score with that effort!
6' Kimpembe is up and moving, he has to come off and wait to be called back onto the field by the ref, having been attended by the medical staff.
5' Free-kick to PSG after Stephane Bahoken went in high and with studs showing on Presnel Kimpembe, who is down and seeking treatment. That ugly tackle prevented Strasbourg from mounting what looked like a promising counterattack.
4' Well, it was ambitious. But not a million miles away from the veteran Brazilian fullback, whose attempt had Strasbourg goalkeeper Bingourou Kamara scrambling a little.
3' Kylian Mbappe has won a free-kick and Dani Alves is set to take it, but surely it's too far out?
2' PSG, as expected, have taken control of the contest in the opening minutes, keeping possession well.
1' KICK-OFF! We're underway at Stade de la Meinau, where the visitors are the heavy favourites.
Just time for a stat courtesy of Opta that won't fill fans of the home team with confidence: Strasbourg have won only one of their last 20 games against PSG in Ligue 1 (D4 L15).
The teams are on the pitch and shaking hands as we close in on kick-off here...
But let's return our focus to this match - it's the first time promoted Strasbourg and PSG have met in Ligue 1 since April 2008, when substitute Amara Diane sealed a 1-0 win for the capital city side.
And another victory over the Bavarian powerhouse will seal top spot in Group B and secure a potentially favourable opponent in the round of 16.
PSG smashed the Bundesliga holders 3-0 at Parc des Princes in September, a result that prompted Bayern to sack Carlo Ancelotti and replace him with Jupp Heynckes.
PSG could be forgiven here for having one eye on next week's Champions League showdown with Bayern Munich at Allianz Arena.
As for Draxler's holders, Die Mannschaft face Mexico, Sweden and South Korea.
In addition to Pastore and Di Maria of La Albiceleste, several other PSG stars now know who they will be facing at next year's World Cup finals in Russia. Neymar, wrapped up against the cold here in eastern France, will be hoping Brazil - drawn against Switzerland, Costa Rica and Serbia - can improve on their nightmare 7-1 loss to eventual winners Germany in the semi-finals on home soil in 2014.
Javier Pastore will be delighted to retain his place in the starting XI for two successive matches. The Argentine had spoken of his frustration at failing to earn a regular place in the XI for the big games. And while Troyes and Strasbourg might not be the most demanding opponents PSG will face, the World Cup hopeful has another chance to impress here.
There are six changes from Unai Emery, as Kevin Trapp, Thiago Silva, Thomas Meunier, Layvin Kurzawa, Giovani Lo Celso and Edinson Cavani all come out of the starting XI from the win over Troyes.
PSG substitutes: Trapp, Verratti, Cavani, Meunier, Lo Celso, Kurzawa, Nkunku.
PSG (4-3-3): Areola, Yuri, Kimpembe, Marquinhos, Alves, Draxler, Rabiot, Pastore, Neymar, Mbappe, Di Maria.
Strasbourg subs: Grimm, Sacko, Saadi, Blayac, Oukdja, Salmier, Caci.
Strasbourg (4-2-3-1): Kamara, Seka, Kone, Mangane, Lala, Aholou, Lienard, Terrier, Martin, Bahoken, Da Costa.
The team news has been announced and we'll start with the home side.
PSG's seemingly unstoppable march towards the Ligue 1 crown continued during the week, despite a penalty miss from Edinson Cavani. The Uruguayan missed from the spot in the first half, but second-half strikes from Neymar and an error-atoning goal from Cavani secured the win for Unai Emery's side. They've dropped only four points this term, highlighting the challenge at hand for Strasbourg this afternoon.
Strasbourg have overcome a difficult start to the season, but still remain just one place above the relegation zone in Ligue 1. Thierry Laurey's men have suffered just one defeat in their last eight matches, which came at the hands of Troyes. However, their inability to close out victories this term has seen the club fail to pull away from the bottom three - claiming just three wins in their 15 matches.
Good afternoon and welcome to the live commentary of the Ligue 1 clash between Strasbourg and Paris Saint-Germain at the Stade de la Meinau.
