Commentary

Minute   Description
Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Until next time, goodbye.
Jardim has done a fine job to keep his players, especially the younger ones in the outfit focused in their pressurised games towards the end of the term. It will be fascinating to see if the club can keep this core of talent together long term.
It's a huge achievement for this young Monaco team to end PSG's dominance at the top of the league. They've been outstanding throughout the campaign and deserve their success.
Monaco secure the Ligue 1 title for the first time in 17 years thanks to goals from Kylian Mbappe and Valere Germain. Leonardo Jardim's men needed only a point to secure the crown this evening, but they got over the line with a comfortable win.
FULL-TIME: MONACO 2-0 SAINT-ETIENNE
90'+4 THAT'S IT! MONACO ARE CHAMPIONS!
90'+3 Lemar picks up the ball in his own half and races away down the left before squaring the ball for Germain to tap home.
GOALLLLLL!!!! GERMAIN SEALS THE WIN! Monaco finish the match in style as Lemar breaks away on the counter and unselfishly slides the ball to the forward, who makes no mistake on the second time of asking, slotting the ball into the net.
90'+2 Seconds remain in the contest. Monaco are going to secure the title with a win.
90'+1 Mbappe also gets his standing ovation as he makes way for Raggi.
Germain picks out Mbappe, who tries to release Carrillo through on goal, but he just overhits his pass.
90' There will be two minutes of added time.
88' Falcao is withdrawn to a standing ovation, with Carrillo replacing the striker. It allows Germain to take the captain's armband for the final throes.
87' Monaco are easing towards the victory along with the title this evening. It has not been a classic, but Jardim's men are almost over the line.
85' Santos replaces Lemoine for the visitors.
Nordin catches Mendy and the full-back hits the deck in pain. There didn't look to be any intent from the Saint-Etienne man, but the defender requires treatment on the pitch.
83' SHOT! Germain pushes forward again and space opens up for him to strike from 30 yards, but his right-footed effort is saved with ease bu Ruffier.
82' Germain attempts to latch on to Sidibe's throughball in the inside right channel and goes down under contact from Pogba, but the referee dismisses Monaco's claims for a penalty.
80' The tempo of the game has dropped to almost walking pace, which will suit the home side just fine.
78' Lacroix clatters Falcao from behind and goes into the book. Glik was not happy about the challenge and there was nearly an incident between the pair before the referee intervened.
Nordin almost gets the better of Mendy down the flank, but the full-back stays true and eventually outmuscles the Saint-Etienne winger.
77' Despite being on the back foot for the majority of the contest, Saint-Etienne are still in the game and need only one goal to earn a point.
75' MISS! Germain should put the game away, but he puts a simple tap-in wide from two yards out. Mbappe collected the ball in the inside right channel and laid a pinpoint cross to the back post for the midfielder to attack, but he was nonchalant with his effort and put his strike wide of the post - with the goal gaping.
74' WIDE! Lemar's cross is not the best and he floats the follow-up towards the back post, but Falcao can only put his header - facing away from goal - wide of the post.
73' Mendy swings a cross in from the left and Lacroix can only send the ball behind for a Monaco corner. Jemerson and Glik both move forward for the set-piece.
71' Monaco have not provided a cutting edge in the second half, with their best probes coming down the left from Lemar and Mendy.
69' Silva makes way for the home side to be replaced by Germain.
68' Hamouma replaces Soderlund for the visitors.
67' Silva is booked for pulling back Veretout on the counter.
66' Lemar plays the ball short from the resulting set-piece and picks out Mendy's run, but the full-back's floated ball to Mbappe is cleared by Theophile Catherine.
65' Lemar and Mendy link up down the left and the winger sends a dangerous low cross into the box, but Lacroix is there to clear the danger behind for a corner.
63' Monaco have just stepped off the gas a little bit and are allowing the visitors back into game. Jardim will be demanding that his players retake the initiative.
61' CLOSE! Veretout latches on to a sublime throughball from Saivet and takes the ball past Subasic. However, Glik recovers well and gets his body between the midfielder and the ball, drawing the foul from the Frenchman.
59' Saint-Etienne pile bodies into the box from the resulting corner, but the home side are able to clear their lines with ease as Lemoine's cross fails to beat the first defender at the near post.
58' Veretout whips his cross into the box from the left flank and Glik is forced to take action to head the ball over his own bar.
57' Veretout battles well in the final third for the visitors by winning a free-kick in a decent position, drawing a foul from Sidibe.
55' SAVE! Nordin raids on a counter and leaves Fabinho and Jemerson trailing in his dust down the right flank. He cuts inside on to his left foot, but can only fire a tame effort into the grasp of Subasic. Still a great run from the Saint-Etienne winger.
BLOCK! Mendy latches on to a throughball from Mbappe and blasts a strike at goal from a tight angle, only to see his effort blocked by Theophile Catherine.
54' Lemar raids down the left once again and digs out a cross to the back post, but this one proves to be too high even for the late-arriving Silva to control.
52' SAVE! Falcao latches on to Lemar's cross from the left and he powers a header into the ground and towards goal, but Ruffier is alert to the danger and makes a fine low save.
49' WIDE! Space opens up for Lemar in the final third and he unleashes a powerful strike towards the top corner. Ruffier looks flat-footed as he watches the ball clip the side-netting on its way wide of the post. A great strike from the Monaco winger.
47' OVER! Falcao pounces a mistake from Polomat and fires a left-footed strike towards the net, only to smash his effort over the bar.
46' We're back underway with Monaco one half away from the title.
Saint-Etienne have been much-improved from their defeat at the hands of PSG at the weekend. They've been resolute enough in their defensive display to keep the scoreline within their grasp, but will have to show significant improvement at the other end of the pitch to find an equaliser.
Leonardo Jardim's men have dominated possession, but have not been entirely clinical in the final third. MBappe had their other best opening of the half, but he was denied by Stephane Ruffier. Radamel Falcao has had a couple of half-chances, but other than that the veteran forward has been quiet in and around the net.
Monaco are 45 minutes away from their first league title in 17 years as Kylian Mbappe's 15th strike of the season in Ligue 1 has handed his side a 1-0 lead over Saint-Etienne at the break.
HALF-TIME: MONACO 1-0 SAINT-ETIENNE
45'+1 The referee ends the first half.
45' There will be one minute of added time.
The home side win a free-kick down the left and Mendy whips the ball into the box, but Lacroix is there to head away from the awaiting red and white shirts.
43' CLOSE! Silva gets half-a-yard on Polomat down the right flank and whips a dangerous cross to the near post, but Falcao on the stretch just cannot glance a header at goal.
42' There's just a feeling that Monaco are playing slightly within themselves. They've dominated possession, but other than Mbappe's finish and his other strike that was well saved by Ruffier - they've have not provided much of a threat to the Saint-Etienne goal.
40' Soderlund makes a decent run behind the Monaco backline and Nordin almost picks him out with a fine low pass, but Subasic races off his line just in time to beat the forward to the ball.
39' The home side build possession down the right, but once again there's no red and white shirt in the box to attack Sidibe's cross from the right.
36' Saint-Etienne are just beginning to feel their way into the contest by pushing back at the home side. They've enjoyed a decent spell of possession just to quell Monaco's dominance.
34' CHANCE! Pogba rises highest in the box to power a header at goal from Veretout's cross, but he can only guide his effort straight at Subasic.
33' Mild relief for the visitors as Nordin raids down the right flank and wins a corner. Veretout will deliver the set-piece.
31' BLOCK! Mbappe bursts past Theophile Catherine down the flank and he fires a powerful effort across the face of goal. Ruffier punches clear, but only as far as Falcao in the box. The striker shoots at goal, only to see his strike blocked by Lacroix.
29' Polomat fails to clear the danger from Mendy's cross from the left and it almost allows Silva to gather, but Lacroix clears ahead of the Portuguese.
27' It's all too comfortable for Monaco at the moment as the visitors are allowing them free reign with use of the ball.
25' Moutinho embarrasses Veretout with his skill in the midfield, but his pass over the top looking for Mbappe skips off the surface and bounces out for a goal-kick.
24' Silva is beginning to enjoy himself for Monaco as he is pulling the strings in the middle of the park. Saint-Etienne need an outball from somewhere.
23' Monaco are moving the ball at speed around the visitors' defence, with Galtier's men dropping deep on to the edge of their own box.
21' Clement replaces Maiga, who has been forced off with an injury.
19' Falcao splits open the Saint-Etienne defence with a sublime throughball to allow Mbappe to score.
GOALLLL!!!!! MBAPPE PUTS MONACO AHEAD! The 18-year-old latches on to a throughball from Falcao and rounds Ruffier. With the goal gaping he makes no mistake, slotting the ball into the net with ease.
18' CHANCE! Mbappe collects in the inside right channel and hammers an effort towards goal, only to be denied a fine save from Ruffier at his near post.
16' BREAK! Nordin latches on to a throughball down the middle and he goes down on the edge of the box under the challenge of Mendy, but the referee waves play on. There was a lot of contact there and Mendy may be slightly fortunate to remain on the pitch.
14' Monaco are attempting to force the Saint-Etienne backline out of their shape, but the visitors are holding firm for now. They conceded five at the weekend and have been much more resolute this evening.
12' Mbappe tests Pogba down the right inside channel, but takes a poor touch sending the ball out for a goal-kick as he attempts to send in a cross from the byline
11' PENALTY SHOUT! Monaco probe through the middle and although Falcao fails to take the ball in stride - there are appeals for a spot-kick against Theophile Catherine as he clears the danger as the ball almost struck the defender on the arm.
10' OVER! Maiga goes on the surge down the right flank for the visitors and he strikes at goal with his foot after cutting infield. However, the ball is deflected over by Glik with muted appeals for a penalty from the men in green.
9' Silva collects from Sidibe following the full-back's run forward, but his left-footed delivery from the flank is cleared with ease by Pogba.
7' Veretout comes to his side's aid at the back as he stops Sidibe's forward run, winning a free-kick in the process.
5' Falcao latches on to Fabinho's ball over the top of the Saint-Etienne defence, but he loses his footing at the vital moment as he attempts to strike at goal.
4' Silva raids down the right flank again, but this time he goes back to Moutinho on the edge of the box. He sends a deep cross towards the back post, there's no player there to attack the delivery.
2' The home side crank up the pressure as Silva collects Sidibe's pass in the inside right channel, but his cross is cleared away from Glik by Lacroix.
1' Monaco are straight on the front foot as Mbappe slides a fine pass of Lemar down the left. The winger fires a low ball across the face of goal, but none of the home side's players can react to turn it into the net.

Saint-Etienne will do their utmost to ruin Monaco's evening as they seek to send manager Christophe Galtier off on the highest of notes in his penultimate game as manager.
