Minute   Description
That's all for our coverage from Spain. Good bye!
Antoine Griezmann's brace propels the Rojiblancos to a comfortable victory at the Estadio Gran Canaria, keeping them at the La Liga summit. Las Palmas put up quite a fight in the first half, but in the end their efforts were for not as Atletico blew it open late.
90' There will be two minutes added on at the end of this match.
89' Koke again provides the assist with a terrific ball through to the striker.
GRIEZMANN GETS HIS SECOND! In the dying minutes the Frenchman again springs the offside trap as tired legs plague the Las Palmas defence. He takes a couple of good touches before slotting it past Javi Varas.
86' The tempo has all but gone from the game now with Atletico eager to milk the final seconds off the clock. The three points will restore their four-point lead over Madrid rivals Real, while taking them five ahead of Barcelona who play later today.
84' DEFLECTED OVER! Ferreira Carrasco is eager to get himself on the scoresheet and comes close at the end of another nice bit of interplay from the visitors, but Aythami is able to stick a leg in and knock the effort over the bar.
82' STAT: Atletico Madrid have scored the highest number of goals involving players who started on the bench in La Liga this season (17 - eight goals and nine assists).
80' Tana is withdrawn for the hosts, meaning his streak of scoring in three consecutive matches will come to an end tonight. Sergio Araujo is on to replace him as Las Palmas play the final 10 minutes with two strikers.
78' Ferreira Carrasco is now teed up for a shot, with Luis providing a clever back heel, but again Javi Varas is able to make the save. Time running out on Las Palmas, while Atletico seem poised to add to their lead.
76' LUIS ALMOST GETS HIS SECOND! He just got his first goal of the season, but don't tell him that! The left-back gets forward again and finds himself in possession inside the area with a clear path to goal, but he can't beat Javi Varas at his near post.
74' The hosts haven't given up despite the mountain they have to climb. They've played a good game up to this point, regardless of what the scoreline suggests, and win or lose they seem intent on playing their tails off through to the final whistle.
72' STAT: Antoine Griezmann has scored four of his last six Atletico goals away from home in La Liga, all of which came in the second half of games.
70' Gimenez goes into the book, not for a particularly bad challenge, but an accumulation of fouls.
68' Terrific ball from Koke to spring the Frenchman through on goal.
ATLETICO SEAL IT SECONDS LATER! Just 41 seconds after Roque Mesa came close, to be exact, Atletico break on a lightning-quick counter and Griezmann is played through on goal from 30 yards out. The flag stays down and with the kind of season he's having, there's no way he's missing a chance like that, as he rolls the ball calmly past Javi Varas and in at the far post.
67' THEY SHOULD BE LEVEL! Terrific play from Willian Jose as he heads the ball down into the path of Roque Mesa. The midfielder has a clear sight of goal and takes the shot first time, but sends his half-volley less than an inch wide of the near post with Oblak beaten!
66' Las Palmas make their first change and introduce a Ghanaian midfielder of their own in the form of Wakaso Mubarak, with El Zhar the one withdrawn.
The visitors make their second change and it is Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey who comes on in place of Fernandez.
64' Atletico have become a bit fidgety in possession, giving the ball away carelessly in midfield which has invited a bit of Las Palmas pressure. The tempo has slowed again as more substitutes are readied on the touchline.
62' A first change for Atletico as Diego Simeone takes off Vietto who has struggled to make an impact this evening, with Yannick Ferreira Carrasco on in his stead. The forward should provide a good injection of pace into the visitors' attack.
60' STAT: Las Palmas have lost their last three La Liga games against Atletico Madrid, without scoring.
58' Las Palmas have managed to ride out the latest wave of Atletico pressure, but the visitors are starting to press higher up the pitch now as they get their swagger back. This is going to be a real test of the hosts' fortitude to see if they can continue their resistance.
56' Aythami has had his hands full over the last few minutes but the defender has been very reliable as the deepest defender. This is much more like the Atletico we expect to see week in, week out, as they inch closer to a second.
54' Crucial save! That could have sealed it! Horrendous defending from Garrido who sends the ball straight to Griezmann. The forward works a one-two with Vietto to get through on goal, but Javi Varas comes off his line to make a massive save!
52' Atletico are slowly starting to impose themselves now, committing their full-backs forward often which has provided them with some excellent width in attack. These Las Palmas players put in a hard shift in the first half and you have to wonder when or if fatigue will start to set in.
50' STAT: Atletico has only once before conceded as few goals (8) after its opening 19 games in La Liga as this term, when it ended up winning the title in 1995-96.
48' Cagey start to the second half, with possession being shared evenly. Atletico do have a timid feel to their team at the moment, reluctant to press high up the pitch which speaks volumes of the quality they think Las Palmas possess.
46' The second half is underway!
Far from deserved, but Atletico have their lead at the interval on their only shot of the half, courtesy of Filipe Luis. The hosts have been the better side through 45 minutes and promise to make it difficult on the league leaders to hold onto their lead, despite being unable to solve Oblak yet.
44' CLEVER LITTLE PASS! Griezmann with an exceptional first touch as he gets on the end of a ball straight through the heart of defence. His momentum takes him wide of goal, so he sends a clever back-heel into the centre for Vietto, but Vicente Gomez provides the appropriate cover.
42' PENALTY APPEALS DENIED! Willian Jose gets in behind Godin as he attempts to run onto a diagonal through ball, but the striker is nudged down from behind. It was unlikely he was going to get onto the pass anyhow, and the referee gives the experienced defender the benefit of the doubt. Good non-call.
40' Fernandez becomes the first player booked for a late challenge on Roque Mesa in midfield.
39' This really is a remarkable first half performance from the hosts but they need something to show for it. They may have to take one or two risks to try and equalise before the break because you know Atletico will come out sharp in the second half after Diego Simeone gets a word with them.
37' Frantic moments for Atletico, uncharacteristically pinned in their end for a prolonged period. An errant pass from the hosts runs out of play and the league leaders immediately look to slow the pace and alleviate the pressure on their goal.
35' The fans clamour for the referee to take action as Gimenez goes through the back of Willian Jose, who has provided the defender with quite a handful in this first half. He escapes without a booking, but that will instil even more confidence in the hosts.
33' Las Palmas asking serious questions of Atletico in this first half, and the league leaders are showing a few signs of vulnerability. The hosts are full of belief and have enjoyed far more possession since falling behind as they look to negotiate an equaliser.
31' GREAT SAVE! Godin is really tight to Willian Jose when a pass comes in, but the striker does well to spray the ball out wide for Tana, who plays David Garcia through on the overlap. In a near replica to the Atletico, a cross comes to the left back, Castellano, who sends a volley at goal, but Oblak gets across to make a crucial save at the near post.
29' STAT: Only Espanyol (91) has attempted fewer shots (including blocks) at home than Las Palmas (104) in La Liga this season.
27' The tempo is back in the match as the teams exchange attacks, but some poor decisions and sloppy passing at decisive moments has prevented either keeper from being called into action over the last 10 minutes or so. The next goal is a decisive one which neither side will want to concede.
25' Lovely fluidity on display by Atletico as they work their way up the pitch, but Griezmann can't make it count in the end as he's dispossessed by an excellent tackle from Aythami.
23' Tana is a joy to watch with the ball at his feet. He takes a pass and is swarmed by three Atletico defenders, but manages to fend them off and pick out a pass for Viera. The winger whips in an inviting cross which Gimenez only partially clears, but the follow up from Viera is sent miles over the bar.
21' That's a tough blow to Las Palmas, conceding after such a positive start. They can't get discouraged, though, because if they continue to play with the same energy and determination then this game is far from over. The tempo has fizzled out a bit since the goal as we enter a cagey period.
19' STAT: Las Palmas has gone three games without defeat in La Liga (winning one and drawing two), their best run this season.
17' A ROCKET FROM LUIS GIVES ATLETICO THE LEAD! A ball into the box is over the head of Griezmann, but falls kindly for an unmarked Filipe Luis. The left-back takes a touch before sending a bullet into the top corner! No chance for Javi Varas, but where was David Garcia there? The right-back was anonymous in defence.
Assist Juan Francisco Torres Belén
15' Las Palmas are a tough team to beat on their own ground and they are proving it in every sense of the word early on here. They are certainly up for the occasion and have done a really good job of keeping the ball when they win in back. They're looking very comfortable in possession.
13' Diego Simeone is animated on the touchline following a prolonged spell of pressure from the hosts. Atletico are back on the ball now but are looking far more timid as the hosts press with a spring in their step.
11' NEARLY THE OPENER! What a terrific attack from the hosts, who lull the visitors to sleep before breaking quickly on the counter. El Zhar is able to nick the ball beyond Godin before squaring for Tana, but the in-form attacker is denied by Oblak from point-blank range!
9' It has been a very even start to the match as far as possession is concerned, but Atletico have been much more positive with their passing in the final third. They have asked quite a few questions of the Las Palmas back line, while the hosts have yet to really try and work the ball into attack.
7' STAT: Diego Simeone’s side have won eight of their last nine league games without conceding in seven of those matches.
5' CLOSE! First real attack for either side and it falls to the league leaders. Griezmann drifts off his marker to take a pass in space, before playing Juanfran through on the overlap. The right-back whips a low cross in towards the near post for Vietto, but Javi Varas holds down the fort in goal.
3' There is a passionate atmosphere inside the Estadio Gran Canaria, and it is being reflected in the play of the home side. Las Palmas are full of confidence following their passage through to the quarter-final of the Copa del Rey, extending their unbeaten streak to five games across all competitions.
1' Atletico get us underway!
Two changes made by Quique Setien to his XI who drew at home to Malaga a week ago. Willian Jose is tasked with leading the lines ahead of Sergio Araujo, while David Garcia replaces the injured David Simon at right-back. Nabil El Zhar and Jonathan Viera provide support in attack for the Brazilian striker, while in-form Tana acts as the number 10.
Diego Simeone names an unchanged starting lineup to the one which won 2-0 at Celta Vigo last weekend. The coach rotated his squad in the cup midweek, with Felipe Luis, Diego Godin and Koke the only ones to keep their place, though Antoine Griezmann did come off the bench for the final 20 minutes to bag a brace. Luciano Vietto is the preferred partner for the Frenchman in attack, ahead of Jackson Martinez.
SUBS: Lizoain, Nauzet Aleman, Araujo, Momo, Mubarak, Culio, Valeron.
LAS PALMAS (4-2-3-1): Javi Varas; David Garcia, Aythami, Garrido, D. Castellano; Roque, Vicente; El Zhar, Tana, Viera; Willian Jose.
SUBS: Moya, Martinez, Savic, Correa, Gamez, Ferreira Carrasco, Partey.
ATLETICO (4-4-2): Oblak; Juanfran, Gimenez, Godin, Luis; Saul, Gabi, Fernandez, Koke; Vietto, Griezmann.
Las Palmas are in a real relegation battle but seem to have turned a corner over the last month, propelling themselves out of the bottom three. They have performed well against the top teams, but have little to show for those strong outings as a result of a string of narrow defeats. Getting points when they play well is going to be crucial for them if they are to secure their place in the top flight for next season.
Hello and welcome to live coverage of Atletico Madrid’s trip to the Estadio Gran Canaria to take on Las Palmas, as they look to keep the pace at the La Liga summit. A transfer ban imposed on the Rojiblancos has put a damper on spirits at the Vicente Calderon, after the club breached the rules on the international transfer and registration of players under 18-years-old. They can still buy in January and there might be an added emphasis on doing so as a result, with the club aiming to make another legitimate run at the title.
