Qualification for Group stage:
the thirty-two 2nd Round winners: qualify for the Group stage

Group stage:
------------

Format:
32 teams from the Knockout stage are distributed into 8 groups (Groups 1-8) of 4 teams each.
Each team plays the others from its own group once - for a total of 3 games each, over 3 game weeks.

Group composition and fixtures:
The 32 teams are ranked based on their current record in the championship, and a Ranking Table is compiled.
The top 16 teams in the Ranking Table are distributed among the groups as follows:
Group 1: 1st and 16th;
Group 2: 2nd and 15th;
Group 3: 3rd and 14th;
Group 4: 4th and 13th;
Group 5: 5th and 12th;
Group 6: 6th and 11th;
Group 7: 7th and 10th;
Group 8: 8th and 9th.
The other 16 teams are drawn at random in the remaining spots.
Any 1st Round participants that have reached this stage (i.e. teams below Superettan level) cannot be drawn in the same group, unless they are more than 8 such teams qualified for the Group stage.
Within each group two of the teams play 2 games at home and 1 - away; while the other two teams play 1 game at home and 2 - away.
The team with highest Ranking Table placing within each group always plays two games at home, with its final Group stage game being at home against the team with the second highest Ranking Table placing in the group (i.e. one of the final fixtures in Group 1 will be the 1st ranked team at home to the 16th ranked team).
1st Round participants that have reached this stage also play two games at home.

Ranking Table order: *
1. football pyramid level at which the team competes; 2. points won; 3. total goal difference; 4. total goals scored.
* - all criteria based on the teams' championship record as of the date of the draw.
